Lesson 22
23 Sept. 2025
Lesson 22, Psalm 91:1-16 NLT: This Psalm 91 is unique in that rather than being written primarily about one person’s experience, the psalmist speaks in the “third tense.” This let’s the reader become aware that God’s great protection is for all who love and trust Him. Because the psalm speaks of natural disasters and major health pandemics, it has been a source of encouragement during such perilous times. Psalm 91, was one of the most read and taught from during the global pandemic of recent years. However, the testimony and confidence of the psalmist during such trying times, leaves no doubt of a faithful person’s faith and trust in God. The psalmist also mentions enemies who attempt to overtake us. The adversaries are not named, but we can adduce from this language that the writer is familiar with the pain and isolation of being attacked in some manner. The psalmist directs our attention to the God who is referred to with some of the highest appellations. God is “Most High” and Almighty.” This places our God above any deity or force that could possibly attempt to harm us. Our God will trample on the enemy and will even send His angels to protect us (“hold us up”) during any challenges we could ever face! God promises blessings and deliverance if we would only love and trust Him. We are always safe with God!
