PASTOR’S COLUMN
17 “ Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God the Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. 18 He chose to give birth to us by giving us the true word. And we, out of all creation became His prized possession.”
James “He Is The Father!”
“He Is The Father!”
There is no person who has lived who can deny the contribution of a father to the process of conception and birth. Except for the first parents of Biblical record, Adam and Eve, each of us owe our human advent to both DNA and RNA receptors, which have come from a man and woman somewhere. This preordained act of nature cannot be canceled by culture, nor by assignment or choice. God gave the first human parents the instruction to “multiply” or populate the earth. On a more personal level, the knowledge and experience of a parent varies, depending on life- circumstances. We do know that the Scriptures instruct us to honor, obey, and acknowledge both mother and father. In doing so, we give reverence to the God of Creation, who has a purpose in all He does. In the Christian community, we join with others in honoring aspects of our parentage. Mothers or providers who lead and nurture us, we honor them on their special day. Fathers or providers who lead and mold us, we honor them on their special day. There is in Scripture a common point of reference in our lives for those of us who are faithful to God, and followersof His beloved Son. We all have God as our Father. Our God has given us life, and we are united with Him through our faith in His Son, Jesus. Our Heavenly Father never changes; is never absent; and will never abandon us. Our God is the Father we earthly parents can emulate with the children we nurture. No one is forgotten, because our Heavenly Father cares for us. As we honor the good and beauty of those hands that guided us in this life, so do we honor our God who also chose to birth us! We are made complete through His Son, Jesus
