Lesson 5 - Part 1
Tues., 4 March 2025
Lesson 5, Part 1 “God Speaks Through Creation and Word.” - Psalm 19 helps us understand how God communicates with us. In this very poetic psalm, David begins by describing how God communicates His divine purpose through creation. While nature does not speak in human terms, the “Voice” of God can be heard through the relentless and persistent work of natural events in all spheres of creation. For David, the earth becomes a showcase for the divine work of God. Nothing is taken for granted. The movement of planetary forces is God’s way of communicating to those of us who inhabit the earth. God has set nature and all of creation in its predestined place. All things correlate according to God’s divine plan! The Apostle Paul said failure to see God’s presence in creation is inexcusable. He wrote, “Since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20, NIV). Similarly, avid says God speaks to us through the various ways His intent for our lives is communicated through His teachings, which is given in His eternal Word. What God communicates is divine and practical. The Word teaches us what is right; what is wrong and how to avoid sin and error. The Word teaches us how to live and engage with others.

Psalm 19:1-2, NIV 1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. 2 Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they reveal knowledge.
Psalm 19:3-6, NIV
3 They have no speech; they use no words; no sound is heard from them. 4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. 5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.
Psalm 19:7-8, NIV
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes…
Psalm 19:9-12, NIV
9 The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much more gold; they are sweeter than honey; than honey from the honeycomb. 11 By them your servant is warmed; in keeping them there is great reward. 12 But who can discern their own errors? Forgive hidden faults.
Psalm 19:13-14, NIV
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. 14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
