Max Lucado, “Unshakeable Hope…” Lesson 9, (Chap. 9)

Devotional Time: “Unshakeable Hope” (pp. 91-102)

Romans 8:1-2, NLT

“So now there is no condemn-

nation for those who belong to

Christ Jesus. And because

you belong to Him, the power

of the life-giving Spirit has

freed you from the power of

sin that leads to death.”

I Peter 2:24-25, NLT

“He personally carried our

sins in His body on the cross

so that we can be dead to

sin and live for what is right.

By His wounds you are healed.

Once you were like sheep who

wandered away. But now you

have turned to your Shepherd,

the Guardian of your souls.”

Romans 3:22-26, NLT

“We are made right with God

by placing our faith in Jesus

Christ. And this is true for

everyone who believes, no

matter who we are. For

everyone has sinned; we all

fall short of God’s glorious

standard. Yet God, with un-

deserved kindness, declares

that we are righteous. He did

this through Christ Jesus

when He freed us from the

penalty for our sins. For God

presented Jesus as the sacrifice

for sin. People are made right

with God when they believe

Jesus sacrificed His life,

shedding His blood. This

sacrifice shows that God was

being fair when he held back...

.

Romans 3:22-26, Ctd., NLT

and did not punish those

who sinned in times past,

for He was looking ahead and

including them in what He

would do in this present

time. God did this to demon-

strate His righteousness, for

He himself is fair and just,

and He declares sinners to

be right in His sight when

they believe in Jesus.”

I John 4:10, NLT

“This is real love – not that we

loved God, but that He loved

us and sent His Son as a

sacrifice to take away our sins.”

I Peter 1:21, NLT

“Through Christ you have

come to trust in God. And you

have placed your faith and

hope in God because He

raised Christ from the dead

and gave Him great glory.”

I Peter 2:24, NLT

“He personally carried our

sins in His body on the cross

so that we can be dead to sin

and live for what is right. By

His wounds you are healed.”

Matthew 11:28-29, NLT

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me,

all of you who are weary and

carry heavy burdens, and I

will give you rest. Take my

yoke upon you. Let me teach

you, because I am humble and

gentle at heart, and you will

find rest for your souls.”

I Thessalonians 5:6, 8, NIV

“So then let us not be like

others, who are asleep. But

let us be alert and self-

controlled…But since we

belong to the day, let us be

self controlled, putting on faith

and love as a breastplate, and

the hope of salvation, as a

helmet.”
