Conley Hughes, Jr. has been licensed and ordained to ministry for 38 years, 30 years of which have been in pastoral ministry. Pastor Hughes is serving his 21st year as senior pastor of Concord Baptist Church of Boston, and also served as pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Haverhill , Massachusetts between 1978 and 1988. Pastor Hughes reaches the wider public through the weekly worship broadcast, Rejoice in Hope, aired on WEZE, 590AM.

Pastor Hughes served as president of the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts , and the New England Baptist Council ( Maine ) from 2005-2007. Pastor Hughes also has been guest preacher on four continents. He has served on special commissions of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. and in the general assembly of the National Council of Churches of Christ, USA . Reverend Hughes also has served on numerous religious, educational and community boards.

Pastor Hughes received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Florida Memorial College in Miami , Florida . He received the Master of Divinity and the Master of Sacred Theology degrees from the Boston University School of Theology and earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon - Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton . Reverend Hughes is a certified graduate field education supervisor through the Harvard University Divinity School , and has been an Adjunct Faculty at Wheelock College in Boston .

Pastor Hughes is the recipient of many awards including: city and legislative citations; Outstanding Young Men of America; Black Achiever; Alpha Phi Alpha; Alpha Phi Omega; Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society; U. S. Defense Department; 25 year ordination service award, American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts; and, is the 2002 recipient of the coveted City of Boston's African American Achievement Award for religious leadership. In 2002 he also was elected to the Board of Preachers of Morehouse College , Atlanta , Georgia . In 2004, Hughes was an "Outstanding African American Making History Today," award recipient from the Boston Renaissance Charter School . In 2008 he was honored at the African American Ball for Outstanding Contribution to the African American Community, and is recipient of the 2008 Clergy Award from the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts.

Pastor Hughes has an avid love for his wife, family and congregation. He is happily married for 32 years to Moreen (Forde) Hughes, an educator, ordained minister through the American Baptist Churches , USA and Minister to Women at Concord Church . Reverend Moreen is a graduate of Boston University , University of Massachusetts , and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where she earned the Master of Arts in Religion and the Doctor of Ministry degrees. 

Pastor and Reverend Hughes are the proud and grateful parents of three children: David C. Hughes, a graduate of Morehouse College, Atlanta, and St. Mary's University, Houston; Nicole A. Taylor (Kennon), a graduate of Spelman College, Atlanta, and the University of Michigan; and Michael J. Hughes, a freshman at Northeastern University.
